Colores

I had the chance to photograph an old adobe building on the Laguna Pueblo, located in the backyard of a friend's home there. When I asked if I could take pictures, my friend simply said, "Sure, it's not mine."

I'm truly fascinated by these old structures. They make you wonder about the lives of those who once lived there, when they were left empty, and for what reasons. My aim is always to respectfully capture these places, highlighting their beauty and a sense of wonder. The craftsmanship involved, the time, talent, and care it must have taken to place those stones so perfectly, is truly inspiring!

In this particular piece, I decided not to use realistic colors. I started with a stunning multicolored, hand-dyed fabric to represent the mortar under the stones. I opted to use paint to soften the color! This piece now lives in Southern NM at a retirement home.
