This is an old adobe on the Laguna Pueblo. It was in the backyard of a friend who lives there. I asked if I could photograph it, thinking it was his. His response was “Sure, It’s not mine.” I love these old buildings. You wonder who lived there. When was it left empty and why? My intent is always to be respectful and portray these places in beauty and with a sense of wonder.  The time, talent and care it must have taken to place those stones just so! I almost never portray things in realistic colors. In this piece I started with a beautiful multicolored hand dyed fabric under the stones to represent the mortar. I thought I would use lighter tones from the mortar for the stones. It seemed a bit garish, so I used paint to tone the color down. (I rarely use paint as there are so many beautiful fabrics out there just waiting to be used.)
